Experience the Healing Power of Neurofeedback

The Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) was created as an alternative to medication for brain-based problems and is often used along with psychotherapy. LENS is a computer- based software program that is connected to an EEG box, which measures brain waves. LENS directly stimulates biochemical changes that are thought to help the brain regulate itself.

The LENS technique is beneficial for almost everyone because its action does not directly address a person’s symptoms or illness but instead helps the nervous system balance and normalize itself. The treatment is also quick, a person does not need to pay attention to a computer screen so the results are fast and may be permanent with repetition. LENS is a passive process which is particularly beneficial for people with attentional issues, people with autistic spectrum disorders, and individuals with cognitive and emotional problems. It has also been used to treat ADD and ADHD, behavioral problems, and a variety of other conditions.

LENS Neurofeedback

The LENS Treatment Process

The treatment itself consists of sitting quietly in a comfortable chair with your eyes gently closed while the neurofeedback practitioner applies a tiny electrode with conductive paste to your scalp to both measure the brain wave activity and to deliver treatment. It is a completely painless and noninvasive procedure.

While performing a standard 21-site EEG, computer technology and software measures and analyzes brainwaves, and converts them into an infinitesimal electromagnetic radio wave signal that is fed back to the brain for a fraction of a second. The signal interrupts dysfunctional brainwave patterns, allowing the brain to reboot back to normal brainwave patterns and the associated neurochemistry.

Many clients often notice improvements within the first three sessions. This is often reported as a feeling of clarity, peace, control, and presence. The brain recognizes efficiency and adopts it as a new way of working. LENS therapy may produce rapid improvement in a wide variety of issues. We typically see improved cognitive functions, motivation, mood, and motor skills and a surprising increase in competence, functionality and relaxation. LENS seems to improve the quality of sleep. LENS users have reported the side benefit of reduced anxiety, seizures, migraines, post stroke effects, and even pain.

Is LENS Neurofeedback Safe?

Absolutely. LENS is FDA-approved, and is safe, gentle, non-invasive and does not introduce any foreign substance into the body. The feedback signal generated by LENS is much less energy than that emitted by a mobile phone or even a digital watch. It has been in use since 1990; tens of thousands of people have used LENS, and there have been no reports of anyone being harmed. Some patients may experience brief (lasting only a few hours) side effects such as feeling wired, tired, spacey, or have a mild headache. This is an indication that the brain is interacting with LENS, and is usually a good prognostic indicator.
