About Sam

Sam was born in a military hospital, grew up as a “military brat,” married a military man, and her eldest son is active duty military. Serving military families is a joy for Sam, and she takes the honor very seriously. Sam provides counseling for adults, young people, and Play Therapy for children. She also provides training and supervision to master’s degree students and fellow counselors.


Sam is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S). She believes that helping others, learning, and personal growth are gifts that we can experience every day and over our entire lifetime. Currently, Sam is acquiring her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision at a CACREP-accredited university. Her dissertation will be a qualitative study on specific aspects of Play Therapy. At this year’s PhD Residency, Sam’s proposal “Effective Online Play Therapy: The Art of Keeping Children Engaged” was selected and Sam presented with nearly 100 in attendance.
