Mental Health Resources For Military Families & Veterans

Family Care Center is uniquely qualified to offer services to our military and Veteran family. The range of experiences and complexities which challenge our Veterans is vast. Family Care Center is owned and operated by a Veteran of the U.S. Army and has served you both downrange as well as in garrison. We look forward to seeing how we can assist your behavioral health needs.

The Family Care Center staff consists of several military Veterans, spouses, and most importantly, clinicians with significant experience regarding the unique nature of mental health treatment for Veterans. Our cultural competency of the military lifestyle is what sets up apart from other community providers.

The wellness and health of our military service members and Veterans are critical to their stability, the steadfastness of their families, and their community overall. Supporting Veteran wellness requires a unique blend of skill and experience that enables Veterans to feel safe, supported, and understood. Veteran Counseling Services

Emotional wellness better aligns us to journey back to ourselves and our families that we love and care for so much, and seeking care is the first step.

Family Care Center provides a collection of counseling services including:

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is an innovative technology that forgoes traditional pharmaceuticals and treats depression through a non-invasive form of brain stimulation.

Surgery is not required, and instead uses pulses of magnetic energy to stimulate nerve cells in the region of our brains that control mood. MagVita is FDA-approved and has been proven effective in treating the following:

  • Major depressive disorder
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Autism
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Chronic pain
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Schizophrenia (negative symptoms)
  • Smoking cessation
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Stroke rehabilitation
  • Multiple Sclerosis

Medication Management

Family Care Center understands that medications are effective in managing mental health issues as a result of chemical imbalances in the brain. Because each person is unique, it can be difficult to determine how a specific medication will interact.

Our medical specialists work side-by-side with you to help manage your medications and weigh your options on which ones are optimal for your health. Medications prescribed include:

  • Antidepressants
  • Mood Stabilizers
  • Stimulants/Concentration Assistance
  • Sleep Medication
  • Anti-Anxiety Medication

Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Program

DBT emphasizes both individual counseling and group skills training classes to utilize useful strategies and coping methods to better support mental health.

Skills that are worked on include mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation to effectively reduce non-suicidal self-injury, suicidal behavior, psychiatric hospitalization, substance abuse, anger, depression, and more.

DBT has been clinically studied to treat:

  • Borderline personality disorder (BPD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Substance use disorder (SUD)
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Major depression, including treatment-resistant depression (TRD)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Suicidal and self-harming behavior
  • Pre-adolescent children with severe emotional and behavioral dysregulation
  • Binge eating disorder (BED)
  • Bulimia nervosa
  • Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD)
  • Histrionic personality disorder (HPD)
  • Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)
